Provide a CPR course is the first part of providing a First Aid course that trains learners to deal with breathing and cardiac emergencies. You can choose from the two variations available in the course. The first one is a regular course of 2 hours face to face training and assessment with some pre-reading and a quiz. And the second one is an Express course participating in a short face to face assessment only class. To be eligible for the in-class evaluation only, you must complete the mandatory first aid course online covering knowledge and theory assessment.

Includes:

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

2. Provide First Aid

The first aid training courses will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first-aid tasks.

Just as our previous course, this one also offers two options. The Express first Aid course takes 2 hours in an assessment only skills-based workshop and requires completing the first aid course online as a mandatory requirement before attending the face-to-face assessment only session. The regular course takes 6 hours of onsite teaching and evaluation with pre-work required.

Includes:

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support (BELS)
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

What Is First Aid?

What is first aid

First aid is utilising medical techniques to treat the sick or injured. It is meant to keep the patient stable while waiting for professional medics to arrive.

Being trained in first aid will keep you and those around you safe. Be the positive difference your community needs. Sign up for a first aid course today.

How Long Does a First Aid Course Take?

A standard first aid training course with First Aid Pro can be completed in a day – a single, five-hour face-to-face training seminar with all assessments conducted during the session. Combined with a half-day of course pre-reading and online learning, this means you can get a full, professional first aid qualification all completed within a single day.

If time is particularly hard to come by, you also have the option of the express course. This involves completing all the theory components of the course online in your own time and then only needing to attend a 2-hour assessment-only training seminar.

Other courses vary in length depending on the content covered, but the dedicated CPR training only takes two hours for the full seminar (or 1 hour for the express version), while the HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting course takes only 6.5 hours for the full training seminar.

How to Prepare for a First Aid Course

Once you’ve booked for one of our first aid courses, you’ll be given access to our self-paced online training resources, which you can work through at your own pace and at times that suit you best. Once you’ve worked through the content and completed the online learning assessment, you’ll know everything you need to be able to attend your in-person training seminar.

Be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Wear comfortable clothes you can move around in (remember that practising CPR involves getting down on the floor), and bring a notepad and pen in case you want to take notes. Otherwise, everything should be provided for you as part of the course – although it’s best to check your course information to see if the course you’re doing has any special requirements.

Which First Aid Course do I Need?

Most professional roles requiring first aid training will expect you to have your HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificate. This course covers CPR training, as well as responding to a wide range of common medical accidents and emergencies, and is the default standard for workplace first aid.

If you’re working as a teacher, educator, or childcare worker, you’ll most likely need to complete the HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting course, which has additional content required for those professions and roles. Your training institution will generally have information on the specific first aid training module you’ll need.

If you’re a dedicated medical professional, you may be looking for either HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid training or the highly specialised HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy course. These are high-end courses that are well above most workplaces’ first aid training requirements (even hospitals will only require some staff to have such qualifications).

And of course, if you’re simply looking to learn the essentials of CPR, the HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) module is both inexpensive and quick to complete.

Why Do I Need to Learn First Aid?

Why Do I Need to Learn First Aid.

Emergencies happen in an instant. It’s essential to keep calm so you can keep your wits about you during these moments. With proper first aid training, you’ll be as prepared both mentally and physically to be able to manage a crisis.

First aid training helps you spot hazards in your home and work environments and know the necessary steps to diminish or at least minimise them.

Having a first-aid certificate will help you advance in your career. Most corporations will employ someone who has at least basic first aid knowledge over someone who doesn’t have any training.

First aid is especially helpful if you plan to work as a firefighter, electrician, nurse, or lifeguard. Not to mention the bonus of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points you’ll receive.
